Proverbs 6:16-19
16 There are six things that the Lord hates, Seven that are an abomination to Him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil,
19 A false witness who declares lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.
The Christmas season is in full swing. Most people are merry and bright while others are jolly and happy. We sing and say it’s the most wonderful time of the year! The air buzzes with the excitement of the season. For many, Christmas is their favorite holiday. It’s a powerful month. It holds so much power that it can change anyone’s countenance, behavior, attitude… it is wild how much power one month of the year has over our lives, for both sinners and saints.
There is One who is even more powerful and greater than the Christmas season and He is the Holy Spirit of God. Could you imagine what would happen if the saints would yield their spirits all year long to Him and His word? Imagine and dream with me, how powerful and strong could the body of Christ be? How can one month hold such power and not God’s Spirit? Don’t get me wrong, I know many are consistent and love the Lord, they live by the Spirit all year round and are doers of God’s word. But why does one month get to change some Christians but the Holy Spirit isn’t given consent to change the hearts and minds of these same Christians? Many of you right now are probably wondering why I am writing about such a topic in the middle of the most wonderful time of the year, using the scripture reference I did above. I was moved by the Holy Spirit to write about it; it’s as simple as that. As we go into the next year, please don’t forget who you are over the next 11 months. I implore you; always ask yourself if you’re living by the Spirit.
