This is a question that plagues many of us. Some of life’s curveballs are expected by us; oftentimes, though, we are hit with the unexpected and don’t know what to do. Some of us become anxious immediately, spiraling down into the abyss of “what ifs” and “if onlys”. Others head straight to avoidance, hoping that the circumstances or the decision that needs to be made will just go away.
We weren’t created to have the answers to everything in life, i.e., we weren’t designed for complete self-reliance. Thankfully, God’s word to us at all times is to seek Him, to rely upon Him.
Psalm 16:7 says I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us that if we seek His will in all we do, then He will show us which path to take. In Acts 16:6-7, Paul and Silas set out to preach the Gospel in two different places, and each time, the Holy Spirit prevented them from doing so. Here we see an example of a way that seemed right to man, but ultimately was not God’s will at the time, and He directed them elsewhere.
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If you are unsure and need direction, guidance, or to make a decision, I encourage you to seek Him with all your heart before you make a move. Be radical and not of this world, turn to God first. He will help you. You’ll be glad you did.
