JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON
It is impossible to think of Christmas without being anxious about our preparations. It is one of the most demanding days of the year.
We often forget to pause and acknowledge the real significance of Christmas. It is remembering the best gift that was given to us, Jesus. More than 2,000 years ago, a Savior was born into this world. It was the greatest gift of love. Christmas is the best occasion to celebrate the gift of giving. Giving is a Gift in us all, giving is the true spirit of Christmas, 1 John 3:17-18 “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” Acts 20:35 “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Matthew 10:8 “Freely you have received; freely give.” Realizing that we are given an immeasurable gift encourages us to give with gladness and enthusiasm, giving with the love of Christ, from the heart. Matthew 6:4 blessed are those who give in secret. Let God alone see what you are doing. Acts 20:35 says ‘to give is better than to receive’. God wants us to be joyful in these seasons. Amid the celebration, however, he also reminds us to give to those in need. Luke 6:38 “give, and it will be given to you. Good Measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” It is more blessed to give than to receive:
We celebrate the birth of a Savior to this desperate world. The most precious gift of all, Salvation. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Celebrate Jesus every day, as His promises are fresh and new every day, as we bless the world in giving as He gave to us. Jesus is the reason for the season!
