2 Timothy 2:1 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
Apostle Paul was writing to Timothy; Christians were being persecuted by the Romans. Paul was writing from prison, where he had been arrested for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Timothy was in Ephesus preaching the Gospel and being persecuted also for the sake of the Gospel.
Paul’s writings are powerful in that they encourage you and I to continue in Faith, just as he was encouraging Timothy. Timothy a young minister was Jewish by birth. His faith in Jesus meant he was a Messianic Jew. Not only was he persecuted by the Romans, he was also persecuted by the Jews.
Paul knew this persecution only to well as he himself, prior to his conversion, had persecuted the early church under the authority of the Jewish leadership.
After Paul’s conversion, he was not only an outcast by the Jews was also at odds to the Apostles and the Church. Paul had to redeem himself to the church and flee from the Jews and the Romans.
Maybe you can relate to this in your life, perhaps trials in your past or perhaps you are having a difficult time now. Consider how committed Paul was, to receive his conversion to Jesus and then to be forsaken and persecuted by the Jews, which he had dedicated his whole life to and be persecuted by the Roman government, imprisoned and eventually executed.
You see Paul knew the cost and he had weighted it against his reward and Paul knew that no matter the trials and sufferings here in this life, that it did not compare to the Glory that he would soon know in the presences of Jehovah, our Lord and King Jesus Christ.
Consider this question today: How prepared am I in the Lord? How durable is my commitment…
These deliberate actions will change us, transforming us daily, preparing us and providing strength for the spiritual conflicts that arise in our lives.
Countless Christians have had their commitment in Christ severely tested even unto death. “EVEN THEN”, the Grace and Spirit of Christ gave them the strength to “REMAIN FAITHFUL”!
1 John 5:4
4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
So please be encouraged today, be faithful and press into Gods call on your life through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
