Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47
We need to break bread together. Yes, we need to fellowship and get to know each other to build healthy spiritual support, but I’m talking about bread in a different sense as well. We need to dig into God’s Word, the Truth, Jesus’s words, Holy Scripture, our daily bread, together. The disciples were not merely gathering to feed their physical bodies, though they did that regularly; they gathered together to feed themselves and each other spiritually with God’s Word. We so often struggle to find that vital balance!
We need to practice Growing Relationships and Inspiring Transformation, in both getting to know each other socially and partaking of God’s Word together spiritually and intellectually. This is why we put so much effort into Sunday morning Discipleship classes. This is why we put so much effort into Wednesday’s Doing Life Together. This is also why we just emailed you about Small Groups for October-December. If you signed up this time around, I am thrilled for the journey you are about to begin as we feast on God’s Word together. If you missed this round, you won’t have to wait long. We’ll begin round two in January, and we’re looking forward to breaking bread with every one of you!
”I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” John 6:51
