Dean serves on the Church Council and the Watchmen, men’s ministry. He leads the hospitality ministry his wife Tina. They have been attending HWWC since February 2012. We have lived in Carrollton since 2012 and prior to that we lived in Newport News. Tina and I have been married since 1986. We have two grown children, Derek and Megan. Derek and his wife Allison are expecting their first child, and our first grandchild, in May of 2020. Megan and her husband, Justin have been married since 2018.
Dean was first saved when he was 9 years old. His mother and grandmother were very active at Temple Baptist Church in Newport News and that is where he started going to church and where he was first saved. Their first visit to HWWC was just by chance. Their daughter was dating Justin, whose family was very active at HWWC, and she had signed up to be baptized. They witnessed our daughter getting baptized with her future husband. They both had a sense of love as they walked into the building of HWWC and it was unlike anything they had ever felt before and they have never left. HWWC is their home and their brothers and sisters in Christ are their true extended family. Within the first year of becoming partners at HWWC, their family rededicated their lives through water baptism.
Dean and Tina know it was not just a by chance moment that we just showed up that day. God knew what they needed and who they needed in their lives. They needed a shepherd that would teach the true Word of God. They needed believers that would help them in their walk, and to build true friendships. Looking back, they see that all of this was in God’s plan for them. From that first day they walked into the building to moving five minutes from the church.
