January is Sanctity of Human Life month. We take this month, as a Nation and the Body of Christ, to recognize the value of every human life. Every third Sunday, is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday and churches around the globe celebrate it. Typically, the focus is on the sanctity of life for pre-born children. Can I just tell you that no matter what stage of life you are in, your life is sacred and valuable? The definition of sanctity is “the state or quality of being holy, sacred, or saintly; of the ultimate importance and inviolability.” Your life was holy, ordained, and sacred before you were even conceived! God assigned your worth when He decided to create you. In Jeremiah 1:5, God told Jeremiah that He knew him before He even formed him in the womb, He set him apart, and appointed him a prophet to the nations. You were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26). Your life holds so much value, that the Creator of the Universe sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem the sin of His own creation (Adam & Eve), to enable you to live a life of eternity with Him! Think about that for a moment. Can you see how valuable you are… how loved you are… do you marvel at what He’s done? I do! Every life is holy, sacred, valuable, and of the utmost of importance. Now, let’s think on this a little more…since every life is holy, sacred, valuable, and of the utmost importance, how do we see the people around us? How do we think of others? How do we treat other people in our ordinary, everyday lives? See the value of human life is broad indeed. We tend to forget all of the in between that happens from birth to death, but make no mistake that it all matters to God. It should matter to all of us as well. God, open our eyes to see ourselves and others the way You see us and others so that we may imitate You in valuing others as well as ourselves. Amen.
