How many of us feel honored to work for the Lord in things that bless our God 1st and then others because it is needed to help them? I praise God for the wonderful workers we have who give to bless so many ministries that are blessed not only here locally in the community but also all around the states and other countries. I believe you all have a story of how the Lord has and is working through you. Keep up the great work for God, and if you aren’t a part of this yet, pray and ask the Lord where He wants you to be. His hand extended, then go to the leader and let them know. Wow, what a blessing you can be! Tomorrow is “Martin Luther King Day,” and he was a hand extended. He worked hard to create unity in a divided community. I read more personal things about him that I had not read before, and I would like to share those things with you.

  • Born on January 15th, 1929, his birth name was Michael, not Martin. His father, a pastor at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, changed his own name as well as that of his five-year-old son after being inspired by the Protestant Reformation leader Martin Luther.
  • Martin Luther King was a very smart young man and gave up high school as he became a college student at age 15.
  • King’s grandfather and father both were Baptist Ministers at different Churches. After college in 1960, Dr. King became a Baptist Minister and was the associate pastor at his father’s church, Ebenezer Church.
  • He was the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
  • There are over 730 Streets in America named after him.
  • Apart from George Washington, King is the only other American whose birthday is a national holiday.
  • He worked as a Non-violent civil rights activist in the 50s and 60s.

Martin Luther King Jr.'s time was cut short as he was assassinated on April 4th, 1968, for his work in unity.
