“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” - Psalms 19:7

David wrote this line in Psalms 19 to celebrate the importance and the power of the scriptures in his life. If you look through the Book of Psalms you will see that this is a theme that reoccurs throughout the book. David had a clear understanding of the important roll that God’s word has in the lives of God’s people. I think we today understand the importance of God’s word in our lives too, but we fail to follow through and make it a daily priority, at least I do.

If your life is anything like mine, it always seems like there is something asking for my attention, and if we are not careful about where we focus our attention, we can spend all of our time doing the task that seems urgent and forgetting about the important ones. So how do we make time in our busy lives to make learning God’s word a daily priority? Here are a few ways that have helped me.

  • Find a Bible app for your phone that has an Audio option. This can help you turn your drive to work from a stressful traffic experience to a time of listening to God speak to you.
  • Set a daily reminder on your phone to read your Bible.
  • Develop and list of scriptures you are trying to memorize. Now when you find yourself standing in long line waiting you have something to do. Test yourself on your memory verses.

I’m sure with a little effort you will find a creative way to help you make God’s word a daily priority in your life.
